With an academic background and early experience in business management, Roy would eventually seek further opportunities and found a personal fit in the construction industry. Starting at an entry-level trade position as a pipe fitter, he maneuvered through various trades with a focus on securing fully certified skillsets through industry courses and certification exams until transitioning into construction management. With a broad and highly relevant set of skills for the construction industry, it was in one of his early construction management assignments that he recognized the gap in safety and developed a passion that would lead him into his safety career. His hands-on experience would play a vital role in his development as a safety professional. He went on to work on large-scale and mission-critical projects both participating in and eventually leading high-profile projects successfully.
